Brainstorm--Ambiguity (2000/Metal Blade)
Rating--8.1

Arena--RealAudio
European speed-like power metal. There are shades of a number of strong bands present here: the chunkiness of units such as Jag Panzer, Angel Dust, and Sinner, mixed with some of the speed of mainstays Iron Maiden and Iced Earth. Brainstorm may not be quite as good as any of those bands listed, but the blend of styles is strong in its own right!
Vocally, lead singer Andy Franck sounds very much like Metalium's head belter.
Opening track "Crush Depth" has plenty of gallop, and a crunchy rhythm moves "Arena". There is some nasty, winding note-riffing in "Maharaja Palace," and both "Demonsion" and "Perception of Life" are good.
The slower-paced "Beyond My Destiny" has a good, soaring chorus, and keyboards add to the song's effect. The chugging "Lost Unseen" is yet another strong cut from this disc.
