Breaker--Accept EP (1999/Auburn)
Rating--7.9

An Ohio-based unit that originally surfaced in the '80s, Breaker plays a NWOBHM/power metal mix. As evidenced from this EP's title, Accept is one band's sound that is (at least partially) influential.
This release contains three older, LP-only tracks, and three bonus tracks that won't be on the band's forthcoming double-disc release. Solid and tough vocals, along the lines of Radakka's singer.
The Accept cover "Breaker" opens the offering, and "10 Seconds In" is good as well... but it's the bonus tracks that truly shine. "Action" has a kick-in, pulse-drive chorus, and the splendid "Life of Crime" is ripping and constant. A great rapid-stutter, spitfire rhythm.
Watch for these guys in 2000, as their brand of metal appears especially ripe for the European audience, and is solid and no-nonsense enough to hopefully turn heads in the U.S. as well.
