Baton Rouge--Lights Out on the Playground (1991/Eastwest)
Rating--6.1
A bluesy-metal slant to some of the material, in the vein of the Bulletboys and some older
Whitesnake (and indeed, the vox of Coverdale are brought to mind more than once). There's also
a little Warrant here, as well as a few songwriting tendencies of melodic
Bon Jovi-- though not as sugary or smooth.
"Dreamin' in Black & White" is good and energetic, and the flowing
"Tokyo Time" stands tall as well.
Some decent choppy and strafing work dots "Slave to the Rhythm," and both "Tie You
Up" and "Vampire Kiss" are workable tracks.
