Baton Rouge--Baton Rouge (1997/MTM)
Rating--6.7

Late '80s style hard rock, with shades of light metal. Not real flashy in the songwriting or playing; rather, the work is very steady. Sort of like a heavy, non-Southern 38 Special, along with bits of light Firehouse.
Leadoff track "Didn't I" is smooth, and "Love By the Numbers," "I Know Better Than You Do," and "Back Under Fire" are also good listens. The slower "Not in the Mood For a Heartache" offers a change of pace, and holds its own.
Despite being a bit ordinary, the band continues to move forward from its early '90s beginnings.
