Bludgeon - Crucify the Priest (2002/Metal Blade)

Tortured Through Lies--RealAudio

When the front cover of the CD has a priest up on a cross, you have a pretty good idea what to expect! Yep, Bludgeon is all about Death Metal. Sometimes sludgey, sometime swift. Not nearly as brutal or technical as bands like The Crown and Raise Hell, but in places there are flecks that remind you of that style. Not a bad release from this Chicago band; DM fans will find it to their liking.
"Tortured Through Lies," "Zero Tolerance," and "Last Rites" are all decent tracks, and both "Voluntary Manslaughter" and "Inner Hell" have good rhythms and chops.
