Black Label Society--Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live!!! Plus 5 (2001/Spitfire)
Rating--8.0

The sound of an air siren breaks through the venue, and the toned-down skullcrushing attack that is Black Label Society descends. Zakk Wylde spews his commands throughout the show - including "Make some fuckin' noise!" and "Drink beer!" - and the band faithfully plows along beside him. The distortion is low-down and muddled, but overall this is a fair rendition of the band's live capabilities. Not quite like you're right there... but are you gonna tell Zakk that?....
Some of the top highlights include the cranky groove of "Lowdown," the absolute lurch of "13 Years of Grief," the gnarler "All For You," and "Stronger Than Death's" bobbing pace, which Zakk accurately introduces with a battle cry of "Incoming!!!"
The title-changed track "Born to Booze" appears near show's end, and other nasty tidbits include "The Beginning... at Last" and the Ozzy cover "No More Tears".
A second disc is included and is comprised of mainly unplugged tracks--though several have some rusty distortion to fuel the flames. There's the Neil Young cover "Heart of Gold," Sabbath's "Snowblind," and the mournful "Blood in the Wall". The five extra tracks remind a touch of Zakk's solo 'Book of Shadows' offering, as well as his Pride & Glory outfit.
