The Last Time--RealAudio
More beautiful and simply breathtaking chops encompass the second and final release from this underrated supergroup. Even more complete than the debut, as almost every song stands as a pillar of blues metal power.
By the impressive high-hat work in "The Last Time", and then on to its bone-chilling, soaring chorus, you know you're in for a hell of a ride. Songs like "Whiskey Dust" and "Love Don't Mean a Thing" make you sit back and just say, "Oh, my, Jake!" Amazing chops, amazing soul.
More mean-ass riffs bite your rump on "Soul Stealer", and "Silver Horses" is all roll-roll, built nicely around the opening kick-in. The title song is a great acoustic blues slide ride, and "Joe's Blues" is well-penned as well.
Have you ever just reached the end of an album, and thought, "Man, these feakin' chops should be illegal."? Well, this is one of 'em, bucky. On "Heaven's Trail" another heaping dose is laid down--check out the harmonics!
The last full-length effort showing Gillen in all his glory; sadly, he would pass away due to AIDS complications a couple of years later. For more from him, check out the George Lynch solo disc. In any case, this one's a pure gem. Thanks, guys.
