Blaze--Silicon Messiah (2000/ SPV)
Rating--8.4
Identity--RealAudio
Blaze Bayley's first post-Maiden release, and a pleasant surprise. In fact, this recording is both heavier and better than his work with Maiden. There is a
similar feel to the music and songwriting, but the production has more punch to it, and there is more overall consistency. The best part is that this just gets the band
warmed up, as they will surpass this release with its followup.
Strong tracks abound, as "Born as a Stranger" and "Identity" are both top highlights, with "The Hunger"
having a chuggy base. Pretty much all the songs from start to finish are good cuts, in fact.
A good pickup for fans of standard power metal, and a great rebound for
Bayley.
