Badlands--Dusk (1999/Pony Canyon)
Rating--7.4

Sort of a "lost songs" collection, as these were some of the final tracks recorded with Ray Gillen before his death to the AIDS virus. Not quite as crunchy and distortion touched as the two previous studio efforts, but still tough, with some of the patented blues-swaggering tendencies.
"Walking Attitude" is a driving track, and a chunky and rolling rhythm moves "Dog."
"The Fire Lasts Forever" is a slower song, and features some nice strafing action by Jake E. Lee. A riff pulse shows up in "Ride the Jack," and both "Healer" and the funky blues strut of "Fat Cat" stand out.
