Hang On St. Christopher--RealAudio
The hyped Van Halen clone-like swagger is shown in full force on this release, as many of the mannerisms and setups are straight from the early VH catalog. Lots of Eddie-like licks, and while singer Marq Torien's singing voice is scratchier than Diamond Dave's, when he lapses into spoken segments and band-melody sections, he's a dead ringer. And who might have produced this mimic? None of than Ted Templeman, of course!
Lots of excellent chops throughout, as "THC Groove" rips its title well. The chainsaw shudder of "Thrill That Kills" is menacing, and swift and energetic fretwork pace "Say Your Prayers" and "Ripping Me".
Sleaze and strutting attitude dot "O Me O My," "Do Me Raw," and the flowing "Goodgirl".
The slow riff grind of the title track is tough, but the ultimate disc highlight is the paced strut of "Hang On St. Christopher". With soft-spoken and mesmerizing moments throughout, it grooves in every way...
