Aerosmith--Toys in the Attic (1975)
Rating--6.3
**U.S. Sales Certification--Multi-Platinum 6**
Though containing two of Aerosmith's best and long-standing cuts, overall this album comes a year before the band will bring its
raunchy, swaggering style all together. Sometimes hard rock, but never really "metal"-- and only hard rock in places, as the Smiths come
across as little more than the Rolling Stones at times. "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion" still get played several times on the
radio each week, now 23 years later-- and both tunes certainly deserve it.
The title song is an upbeat rocker with a rolling chorus,
and "Adam's Apple" contains a nice, sassy little groove. "You See Me Crying" features a big sound with orchestration, but misses
out on the pure "rock" factor.
HOT CHOPS: The riff, man. Oh, yeah-- you know the one I'm talking about.... "Walk this way... talk this wayyy-ayy..."
