Aerosmith--Greatest Hits (1980)
Rating--8.0
**U.S. Sales Certification--Multi-Platinum 9**

Sort of a brief gathering of tunes from the "first half" of Aerosmith's career, as they would revive themselves in the mid-eighties to lay down a whole new platter of hits. At this stage, it's pretty much straight forward rock with swaggering attitude. Actually, now that I think about it, it's still a lot like that!! But there are subtle differences as well.
The early commercial classics are here-- "Dream On," "Walk This Way," and "Sweet Emotion," all of which still get plenty of AOR exposure even today. Also along for the ride are equally huge hits, but which straddle the heavier edge of the band's catalog: "Same Old Song and Dance," the raunch-sass rock of "Back in the Saddle," and the riff and roll of "Draw the Line."
"Remember (Walking in the Sand)" has a great little chorus to it, and has long since been buried beneath the hits.
In all, a nice disc to grab for the "new" wave of Aerosmith fans. One of the few bands around today that can boast true longevity.
