Armored Saint--Symbol of Salvation (1991)
Rating--8.2

Spineless--RealAudio
A twin-guitar attack is added to the fray on this (what appeared to be) final release, and overall the sound is a bit more polished than before. It is, however, still unmistakable Saint.
The rapid machine-gun riff backbone of "Reign of Fire" gets the album kicking, and the solid power chords of "Dropping Like Flies" and "Tribal Dance" surge forth with singer Bush at the forefront.
The experimental "The Truth Always Hurts" has a winding Scorpions-like metal riff, and the title track is simple strength; towering, biting riffs are the main event.
"Tainted Past" is rhythmic throughout, with slashing axe work. Closer "Spineless" is the top disc highlight, with the meanest riffs and strongest beat. A fine career, though the band was never quite able to reach that hallowed "next level". A mini-legacy, none-the-less.
