Out on a Limb--RealAudio
The Saints return with another strong power metal offering. More of the same, as there are chunky grooves, headstrong riffs, and feral wails from leadman Bush.
The lead (and title) cut gets things rolling in solid fashion. Fast-paced rockers like "Chemical Euphoria" and "Underdogs" are matched well against the slower-paced backdrop of "Isolation". "Crisis of Life" has a nice chorus, and with a thumping beat that the band is able to exploit in fine fashion.
"Human Vulture" is extremely strong, and "Book of Blood" is an excellent metal piece that rolls along from start to finish.
The afore-mentioned "Isolation" should not be overlooked, as it is a slower piece, but builds with emotion throughout.
The absolute highlight on the disc is the somewhat simplistic "Out on a Limb," with its head-moving bar chord chug. A biting chorus only adds to the pleasure...
As a sidenote, the album also contains a less-than-spectacular cover of Lynryd Skynryd's "Saturday Night Special".
HOT CHOPS: Check out that vocal pre-chorus strut in "Out on a Limb"!
