The Pillar--RealAudio
The Saint returns!! Following an almost decade-long hiatus, the band reunites. John Bush is at the vocal helm (thankfully escaping from Anthrax), and killer components fill out the rest of the roster. Very much like 'Symbol of Salvation,' with its speed and updated sound-- but also chord-chunky, like some of the band's solid '80s material. Solid throughout; stay with the Saint, John!!
The chugging and flowing "Pay Dirt" opens the mayhem, and is followed by the absolutely Trouble-like duel-riff intro of "The Pillar"-- which melts into a driving and nasty rhythm!
Winding vocals highlight "Creepy Feelings," "Control Issues" has solid strafing and sliding bar chords, and "What's Your Pleasure" is one of the offering's faster tracks.
Much of the disc is pure, solid fare: "After Me, the Flood," "Tension," "Den of Thieves," and the smooth "Upon My Departure".
In all, a great return for the band-- and a solid metal pickup for you.
