Refuse to Be Denied--RealAudio

This album's release had been delayed for quite some time, but the band's fans remained fairly patient over the break. The group certainly no longer fits the thrash-mold that they helped establish back in the mid-'80s; instead, the Bush-led albums have featured a chunkier, thicker style of music. As anyone who has listened to the recent releases will tell you, it's a little hard to really classify where the band fits now, musically. At times there is the obvious reminiscence of 'Revelations'-era Armored Saint, and the sounds from the band's own late-'90s releases continue.
The churning track "Refuse to be Denied" is a top spot, and "Any Place But Here" has a nice, heavy sway to it. "Crash" has a nasty, rolling pickup midway through, and "Nobody Knows Anything" is one of the more energetic tracks to be found.
Other good showings include the sassy/heavy mix of "Cadillac Rock Box," the rhythmic "Taking the Music Back", "Strap it On's" nod to metal (check out the homage to Priest's "Love Bites" at the end of the song!), and "Superhero".
Overall, this is a good metal disc for those fans who like the "newer" style of the band, or metal (in general) in the Armored Saint mold. The music isn't quite as cutting and riff-heavy as the Saint, but some of the same bottom-heaviness can definitely be found.
