Anthrax--Persistence of Time (1990)
Rating--8.0
**U.S. Sales Certification--Gold**
This Grammy-nominated album would be the last for long time vocalist Joey Belladonna, leaving because of the ever-excused
"personal differences". A good album overall, matching the previous 'State Of Euphoria' in moshing riffs and catchy hooks.
An excellent thrashed-out cover of
Joe Jackson's "Got The Time" shows up, and those great pit hooks that make Anthrax so unique are spread all over the disc.
Most regard this as the last "classic-style" Anthrax album, due to the influence of new vocalist John Bush.
The drum and bass non-stop thumpings are here, over
plain old great mosh riffs. Good intros, typical personal-world-conflict lyrical content the band is known for, and speedy tracks.
Highlights include "Keep It In The Family," "In My World," and "One Man Stands".
HOT CHOPS: "Keep It In The Family" has a grinding intro before ripping heads off with an incredible slow and nasty mosh.
Then comes Belladonna's "Mmmmmmm......" Oh yeah!!! Also feel the groove when "In My World" kicks in...
