Lee Aaron--Call of the Wild
Rating--6.5
Danger Zone--RealAudio
Another of the 80s' few female offerings. Heavier than Vixen, but not as strong or
full-flowing as Femme Fatale-- though close in places. There are a few shades of some
Fastway, and a little 'Breaking the Chains'-era Dokken.
Smooth,
anthemic choruses remind of some of Pat Benatar's work, and Aaron's voice has a nice edge to it.
Almost all of the tracks
have a good sound and feel to them. A heavier, choppy rhythm brands the title cut, and "Evil Game" and "Danger Zone" are
tough as well.
Songwriting guru Bob Halligan Jr. puts his mark on "Line of Fire" and "Beat 'Em Up," and catchy hooks and
angry energy are the results.
Some sharp notes and a smooth chorus help out "Paradise," as this is a decent release overall.
