Angel Dust--Of Human Bondage (2002/Century Media)
Rating--7.9

Angel Dust's power metal music is still fast and it's still heavy--but the riffs and chops on this release aren't as etched and nasty-flowing as before. There is plenty of double-bass, but it seems as if everything is jumbled together, whereas before there were plenty of cutting and bobbing rhythms. That lost aspect is definitely a disappointment.
"The Human Bondage" is rapid-firing and heavy, and the stop-and-go, low-E chugs of "Forever" stand out as well.
Both "Got This Evil" and "Freedom Awaits" are good tracks, and a surprise shows up in the form of "Killer"--a cover of Seal's 1991 dance club hit. The band succeeds in turning it into a chord-driven romp.
