Angel Dust--Enlighten the Darkness (2000/Century Media) Rating--8.2

There are more "mood" offerings on this release than on the previous, which detracts a bit from the rating. When the band rocks out, its distortion sound is still one of the most cutting and best in metal. Overall, this is another atmospheric power metal release-- just not as consistently grabbing and heavy as before.
An absolutely killer drive rhythm opens things up with "Let Me Live," and a Priest-like swagger and a chugging base bolsters "Enjoy!"
A smooth start gives way to a riffy pickup in "Fly Away," and other good tracks include "The One You Are," "Come Into Resistance," and "Cross of Hatred".
A band deserving of more ink, here's hoping they stick around for many years to come.
