AC/DC--Powerage (1978/Atlantic)
Rating--7.9
**U.S. Sales Certification--Platinum**
This album is not quite as heavy-catchy as the band's previous releases-- the riffs are still good, but not as raw and unabashed.
It reminds me a bit of early Black Crowes-- basically AC/DC sounding, but not as nasty. However, one of the great AC/DC
tunes--"Sin City"--hails from this album. Other standouts include both "Rock and Roll Damnation" and "Riff Raff," with other
tasty nuggets including "Gimme a Bullet," "Up to My Neck in You," and "Down Payment Blues".
Definitely a needed album for the true fan. However, if
by chance you are delving into the world of Bon Scott for the very first time (you lucky bastard!),
perhaps go with one of the previous
offerings first. Come back to this one later... you won't be too disappointed!
