Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap--RealAudio
This album was re-released in the early 80's, but was originally recorded back in '75-'76. The title song is one of the best known AC/DC tunes, and probably gets the most airplay (along with "Highway to Hell") of all the Bon Scott-era tracks. Scott was with the band until his untimely death in 1979, and his crude, swaggering style debuts nicely here. The sound the title song displays is one the band would use for its next couple of albums: thick guitar grooves, with a strong rhythm section. Other tunes on the album have a bluesier feel, but still have those catchy riffs. Notables include "Love at First Feel," "Squealer," "Ain't No Fun (Waitin' Around to be a Millionaire)," the slow, moody "Ride On," and the hilarious "Big Balls". Not as distortion-based as the band will get in the future, but still a great first album; the lyrics set the tone for the boys' devil-may-care career.
HOT CHOPS: Both the heavy breathing, and the grumbling, troll-like tail on the chorus of the title song are classic.
