Amon Amarth - Versus the World (2002/Metal Blade)
Rating - 8.0

Amon Amarth returns with more of their high-octane Death Metal, with tons of definable riffs and grooves. Lots of solid tunes are present here, as the band actually writes good songs, and not just good music. The second, bonus CD consists of the group's first two demos and first mini-CD.
"For the Stabwounds in Our Backs" and "Across the Rainbow Bridge" are top highlights, with all of "Where Silent Gods Stand Guard," "Down the Slopes of Death," and the title track being strong fare as well. A consistent disc from a very consistent band.
