Amon Amarth--The Crusher (2001/Metal Blade)
Rating--8.0
Masters of War--RealAudio
Nice strides are made here, as this release not only features fast burners, but also plenty of timed, paced punishers. There are shades of
In Flames, though not quite as technical overall. The vocals are a death/black mix, and this is a pretty solid DM release throughout.
The fast and tight "Bastards of a Lying Breed" opens the melee up, with the solid and spaced riffs of "Masters of War" following. Numerous choice cuts follow, with
higher points being given to the bulldoze rhythm of "Annihilation of Hammerfest" and the thick and nasty "The Fall Through Ginnungagap".
